Club Outing to Polesden Lacey 4th September 2019

Just 18 of us were smoothly transported by Brenda, our Stewart’s coach driver, to the National Trust property of Polesden Lacey, once the weekend retreat of Margaret Greville and honeymoon venue for The Duke and Duchess of York, later to become King George VI and Queen Elizabeth.  Soon after arrival Tim led 11 of us on a 5 mile walk (while the other 7 chose a guided tour of the house) through the estate to Ranmore Common where we lunched on Denbies Hillside with superb views to the south.

Returning to the more formal part of the property there was ample time to visit the house and gardens before enjoying the usual National Trust tea and cake and then boarding the coach for the journey back to Reading.

Thanks to Pauline for arranging another most enjoyable day, although she wasn’t present herself having gallivanted off to Namibia, and a special thank you to Tim for stepping in and running what proved to be an excellent day out in wonderful weather.
